Manchester United have heightened security at Old Trafford ahead of this evening's re-arranged Premier League fixture against Bournemouth.

The Cherries made the long trip north on Sunday only for the match to be called off at the last minute due to the discovery of a suspect package by a matchday steward.

Officials initially evacuated the Stretford End and Sir Alex Fergsuon Stand before a full evacuation commenced and a controlled explosion took place at the stadium.

It was later confirmed the testing device had been left at the stadium after a drill earlier in the week.

United go into the fixture knowing their chances of a top-four finish are over, barring a mathematical miracle at the Theatre of Dreams.

They are three points adrift of Manchester City in fourth spot, but must overturn a 19-goal swing to overtake their local rivals.

A point would secure a place in the Europa League group stages for next term, but Louis van Gaal could be tempted to rest some players ahead of the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace at Wembley on Saturday.

Bournemouth can rise from 16th to 14th with a win, a result which would also see Southampton go straight into the group stages of the Europa League rather than the Red Devils.
