Belarusian BelAZ opens service center in India

MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ has opened its first service center in India. The event took place during a Belarusian-Indian business forum, the press service of the Belarusian Industry Ministry told BelTA.

Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich and OAO BelAZ Director General Piotr Parkhomchik took part in the opening ceremony in the city of Nagpur.

BelAZ's cooperation with India began in 1966. Since then the country has bought hundreds of BelAZ vehicles. This is why the opening of BelAZ's first service center in Nagpur is significant for the maintenance and servicing of BelAZ vehicles in the region and for further advancement of beneficial cooperation. India intends to increase coal extraction by over 300 million tonnes by 2020. The effort will require buying new vehicles and training qualified personnel.

As part of the business forum the BelAZ delegation met with representatives of Indian companies. A number of cooperation documents were signed as a result.

The Zhodino-based automobile engineering company BelAZ was established in September 1948. The enterprise was reincorporated as a public joint-stock company in 2010. In September 2012 OAO BelAZ became the managing company of the holding company BelAZ. BelAZ is the world's top manufacturer of heavy and super heavy haul trucks and other kinds of heavy transport equipment used by the mining industry and the civil engineering industry.
