The Island Green is always an adventure. It didn't affect the outcome of the tournament like it did last year when Rickie Fowler birdied it six times in seven tries (including two in the playoff), but we did have some great (and truly terrible) moments.

A look back on a kinder, gentler No. 17 at TPC Sawgrass

Best moment: It has to be Will Wilcox's ace on Friday. It hadn't happened since Miguel Angel Jimenez did it back in 2002, but Wilcox was the perfect man to get it done. Can you imagine, say, Vijay Singh or Jason Dufner reacting like this?

Worst moment: Poor Russell Knox. He truly could have contended for the tournament if not for the three he rinsed here on Saturday evening. He walked away with a nine on the hole and an 80 on the day. His other three rounds were all in the 60s.

Best quote: Again, we have to go to Mr. Knox. "I've never been so nervous over a shot in my whole life," said Knox. "It was a career-defining moment for me. If I couldn't get off the tee there today, I was in big trouble. So I was very happy that I hit the green. Even though I three-putted, I beat my score by five yesterday. So pretty solid."

Funniest moment: Knox owned the Island Green this week! The fear in his eyes after he thought he missed it again followed by the cheer he got after hitting the green on Sunday was tremendous.

Favorite moment: I wasn't personally in the media tent this week, but my brethren that attended at TPC Sawgrass got a tasty treat from Wilcox after his Friday ace.

Balls in water

2016: 36
2015: 45
2014: 28
2013: 44
2012: 39
2011: 40
2010: 29

Sunday's round featured only four which is the second-fewest in a final round since 2003.

Best shot on Sunday (that didn't matter): Like I said, No. 17 didn't affect the tournament this season like it did last year when Rickie Fowler won, but runner-up Kevin Chappell stuck one close late on Sunday evening. Too bad Jason Day already had one hand on the trophy.

Best tweet: This made me laugh.
