Dangerous chemicals leaked on the main street in northern Jerusalem neighborhood of Pisgat Ze'ev.

An industrial truck leaking dangerous chemicals was stopped Tuesday morning on the main road in the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of Pisgat Ze’ev.

The chemicals, used as a disinfectant in the poultry industry, were leaking on to Moshe Dayan Boulevard. The neighborhood is home to 50,000 residents, making Pisgat Ze’ev larger than some cities in Israel.

People living in the area were instructed to stay home and turn off air conditioners while Jerusalem Fire and Rescue Services personnel contained and cleaned up the spill. Local Jerusalem Light Rail and Israel Railways train service in the area was temporarily suspended.

Some people reportedly suffered from burning eyes and vomiting as a result of the spill. it is not clear what caused the accident.
