NEW DELHI: Reliance Communications (RCOM) Tuesday launched ‘DataLoan’ service for its pre-paid customers on both its 3G and 2G networks.
With the DataLoan service, customers with a low pre-paid data balance can simply dial a toll-free number to get an instant data top up of 60 MB, the telco said in a statement.

Anil Ambani-driven telco launched this service, after study of usage pattern and behavioral analysis of its pre-paid subscribers to allow benefits to customers who sometimes find their data session interrupted when they run out of the subscribed data quota.

The data loan given will have a validity of two days and a value of the loan at Rs 10, plus a nominal transaction fee of Rs 2, which will be recovered from the customer’s pre-paid account over subsequent recharges, RCOM added.

“DataLoan is an innovative solution which will provide greater convenience to our customers, assuring them of uninterrupted data services usage any time of day or night. This service will be extremely useful when customers run out of data balance at odd hours or in the event of an emergency,” chief executive— Consumer Business at Reliance Communications Gurdeep Singh said.

The telco is banking on high-speed data services and is currently migrating its CDMA customers to a 4G network over the 800 MHz spectrum band.
