Many would have come across Directors in their organizations, but there are some independent Directors, who still are a part of the company but do not hold any share of it.

Based on the figures disclosed by the companies in their annual reports, 9 highest-paid independent Directors have been classified by The Economic Times and are mentioned below:

Bernardus Johannes Maria Verwaayen

Being the Chief Executive Officer of Alcatel-Lucent between 2008 and 2013, Bernardus is better known by the name ‘Ben Verwaayen’.  The 63-year old Dutch national is the Co-Founder of Keen Venture Partners, providing backing for entrepreneurs and their ideas. Ben served as an important Board memberin Bharti Airtel and received Rs2.5 Crore in the financial year end of March 2015.

Jeffrey Sean Lehman

An American Scholar, Lawyer and Academic Administrator, has been the Vice Chancellor and CEO of the New York University Shanghai. Well known as an Advocate for ‘the role of universities in globalization’, he previously served as Founding Dean and Chancellor of the Peak University School of Transnational Law in China. Jeffrey earned Rs 1.20 Crore for his role as External Director at Infosys.

Clayton Magleby Christensen

The 63-year-old Christensen, best known as the Architect of disruptive innovation, is an American Scholar, Educator, Author, Business Consultant and Religious Leader. Christensen is the Co-Founder of Rose Park Advisors, a venture capital firm, and Innosight, an innovation specialized managing consulting and investment firm. Magleby earned Rs 1.55 Crore as an Outside Director of TCS.

KV Kamath

Former Chairman at ICICI Bank, KV Kamath served on the Board of Infosys between 2009 and 2015. Kamath is the Chief of the New Development Bank of BRICS countries. He earned around Rs 2 Crore from Infosys in the fiscal year 2015. Kamath is in the third spot with Damodaran and Sommer.
