Man hit with bricks succumbs to injuries

Nashik: A 36-year-old estate broker was allegedly stoned to death outside an empty police chowky in the busy Ravivar Peth area on Sunday evening in full public view by his friends.
Swagat Chandrakant Kansara, a resident of Tambat lane, succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment at the civil hospital late on Sunday night. The city has recorded 19 murders so far this year.
Police said Kansara had stepped out with his friends, Sunny Pagare and Rohit Sapte, all residents of the same locality, on Sunday morning for a ride.Pagare and Sapte took Kansara from place to place in the city and forced him to have alcohol. "Suddenly, around 4.30pm, one of the accused burst out in rage and slapped Kansara, who was under the influence of liquor. Kansara fell on the road in front of Malhar gate police chowky," a distant relative of Kansara said.
Police said Pagare and Sapte then hit Kansara on his head with 20 bricks, which they picked from the road, in full public view at a busy Ravivar Peth area resulting in grievous head injuries. The three were not on cordial terms for the past few weeks, police added.
"The duo then threatened the passersby of dire consequences if they disclosed it to the cops. They roamed around the residential area, asking all the residents to shut their doors before running away," a police officer said, adding that the duo accused were too under the influence of liquor.
After a while, passersby moved Kansara to the government civil hospital for treatment but he could not recover. He succumbed to his injuries late Sunday night.
Assistant commissioner of police (crime) Sachin Gore said both the accused were nabbed on Monday morning from the Panchvati area.
In another incident, Sandip laxman Jadhav, 29, a watchman, was allegedly stabbed with sharp-edged weapon on Sunday night near Canada corner. Jadhav was on duty when the incident happened.
He is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
