Jilted stalker burns woman with acid in Kurnool

Anantapur: A married woman suffered serious injuries after a person threw acid when she refused his advances, at Kotakandukur in Allagadda mandal in Kurnool district on Monday.

According to sources, Subba Lakshmamma, 25, a native of Kotakondur married B. Nagendra of Sirivella about eight years ago and the couple had two children. However, K. Raju from Sirivella has been making advances towards her, demanding a ‘relationship’.

Fed up with the harassment, Lakshmamma went to her native village Kotakandukur a few days ago. Raju followed her to the village and demanded she ‘elope’ with him.

When she refused, Raju, who had brought acid with him, threw it at her after a heated argument. Hearing her screams, people gathered and caught Raju and handed him over to the police.

The victim was rushed to Allagadda hospital and later referred to Nandyal and Kurnool hospitals. Doctors said that she suffered serious injuries on her chest and shoulders.

Allagadda police registered a case based on Lakshmamma’s complaint. Kurnool SP Ake Ravikrishna visited the general hospital.
