Former Union Minister M.K. Alagiri did not cast his vote on Monday.
Considered a strong man once in the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and who was the south zone organising secretary, was removed from the party for his anti-party activities two years ago.
At Tiruchi
According to his supporters, he was away at Tiruchi to meet a friend, who had come from abroad.
Usually, he would cast his vote with family and interact with media persons about the prospects for the DMK.
Though he was no more in the party, he continued to share with his well wishers that he would remain with the DMK identity and “Kalaignar” (his father M. Karunanidhi) his leader…No one shall ever separate me from the DMK.
However, political observers felt that Alagiri should have cast his vote, especially, when he had so much respect for his father, who even at this advanced age had exercised his right to vote.
