SSLC results prove to be a mixed bag for H-K region

Raichur, Kalaburagi, Bidar and Koppal rise in rankings; Ballari and Yadgir flop

For Hyderabad Karnataka region, the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exams were a mixed bag, with Raichur, Kalaburagi, Bidar and Koppal rising in the State-wide rankings, but Ballari and Yadgir faring badly.

Raichur has topped in the region by coming 11th, followed by Kalaburagi at 17th, and Bidar and Koppal at 25th and 26th, respectively.

However, Ballari slipped from 24th last year to 34th — the last position in the State rankings. Yadgir district, which was 22nd last year, slumped to 32nd.

Percentage down

Although Raichur improved its ranking considerably (it was 17th last year), the pass percentage was down by 5 percentage points (from 87.29 per cent last year to 82.29 per cent this year). Of the 21,711 students who appeared for the examinations, 17,866 have passed.

In Kalaburagi, of the 33,795 students who appeared for the exams, 26,704 have passed, giving the district a pass percentage of 79.02. This is for the first time in recent years that Kalaburagi has finished in the top 20.

In Bidar, which has risen from 28th to 25th, 12,239 of 16,118 students have passed, while in Koppal, which has gone from 33rd to 26th, 16,823 of 22,159 have passed.

Incidentally, girls outshined boys in all six districts.
