DD gets best documentary film award in Asia-Pacific

JAMMU, May 16: India’s Public Service Broadcaster, Doordarshan has won coveted best documentary film award in Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union TV Award competition held at Karabi in Thailand.
Doordarshan’s documentary film ” Whisper of Warming” based on the theme of climate change in Ladakh division of Western Himalayas declared the best documentary film. It competed with the 40 films from 20 countries across the world.
A one-hour documentary film on climate change directed by Anoop Khajuria, was Doordarshan’s attempt to tell the story of people in the western Himalayas who are being impacted by the climate change due to global warming.
India is a major stake holder in Paris declaration on climate change and IPCC. Climate change is an issue which is affecting every aspect in human life from food, water, energy security, health and global economy. It is appearing in more unpredictable weather patterns and more frequent and intensive natural hazards such as typhoons, sea level surges, flooding, landslides, drought and glacial lake outbursts.
