There’s no one like Kohli at the moment: Williamson

New Zealand skipper and Sunrisers Hyderabad star batsman Kane Williamson heaped praise on Indian run-machine Virat Kohli, saying that the Royal Challengers Bangalore captain is a great player whom he admires a lot. “He (Kohli) is a great player. He is a player whom I admire a lot, obviously like a lot of others do. His ability in T20 cricket and other formats and how he adapts from one format to the other around the world is incredible,” said Williamson. “Consistent as he is in T20 cricket, there may be no other player like him at the moment. But, well, there is David Warner who is also able to do that; it is also about keeping the benchmark for other players to strive to.”

India’s oldest Test cricketer passes away

Deepak Shodhan, India's oldest Test cricketer, died at his residence in Ahmedabad on Monday. He was 87. "He had respiratory issues and died of a heart attack," said Gokul, son of Deepak Shodhan's elder brother Jyotindra. Shodhan was a left-handed batsman, and he became famous for making a century (110) on Test debut against Pakistan at the Eden Gardens in December 1952. He batted at No. 8 and faced the likes of great Fazal Mahmood and Mahmood Hussain.

Day continues streak with Players Championship win

World No. 1 Jason Day continued his astonishing hot streak with an emphatic four-stroke victory at the $10.5 million Players Championship in Florida on Sunday. He was never seriously tested in the final round en route to his seventh victory in his last 17 starts. Day, who began the day with a four-shot cushion, never led by less than two strokes despite some wayward tee shots. He displayed a stellar putting touch to card 71 and finish at 15-under-par 273.

Agarkar wins golf tournament with Rawjee

Former India paceman Ajit Agarkar and his teammate Shabbir Rawjee will represent India at the World Corporate Golf Challenge after they won the India Finals here today. Agarkar and Rawjee, playing off handicaps 17 and 19, respectively, triumphed with a total of 62 stableford points. The team of Manohar Reddy and Siva Reddy from Bengaluru finished runners-up with 56 stableford points. — Agencies
