STPI plans to generate 3200 seats for BPOs in state
INDORE: On Monday, a meeting was organised to bring new entrants into the BPO sector to provide employment in the Tier II and III cities, where STPI (Software Technology Parks of India) invited bids from state based IT/ITES firms to set their BPO units.
The India BPO Promotion Scheme (IBPS), envisaged under Digital India Programme, seeks to incentivize establishment of 3,200 seats in Madhya Pradesh for creating employment opportunities via IT and balanced regional growth of Information Technology and IT-Enabled Services (IT/ITES) sector.
The benefits under IBPS would be available until the end of March 31, 2017.
STPI Additional Director Ravi Verma said that the Central Government-sponsored India BPO promotion scheme (IBPS) will be run by new firms set up under the Companies Act.
"Government will contribute around 50 per cent of the capital invested in the company and will also provide Rs one lakh per seat," said Verma.
Units from Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur and other cities across the state were also invited for the bid.
"Our aim is to rope in maximum companies and create huge employment opportunities for the youth," said S H Abbas Mehdi, Deputy Director, STPI.
The Central government has also announced benefits for companies providing employment to women, disabled and those setting up the unit in rural areas. As per official sources a company can bid for a maximum of 800 seats. "We would be helping in the disbursement of capital support and the units from any sector could set-up their BPO would be assisted by us," he added.

Eco Edge Business Advisor, Xerox Business Services, Yashco Systems, Unikaihatsu, Xtranet Tech, Citizen cop and many other units participated in the session. The last date for online bids has been extended until June 30.
Central Government-sponsored India BPO promotion scheme (IBPS) aims at bringing in new entrepreneurs into the field and provide employment. To promote the scheme of the Ministry of Communications and IT (information technology), STPI has been working for roping in entrepreneurs.
Official sources said, "The scheme primarily aims at employment generation through BPO and ITES operations and balanced growth of IT and ITES sectors in the region," As per government figures, BPO industry has been registering an eight per cent year-on-year (Y-O-Y) domestic growth and the country has more than 3,500 firms.
