Decision to expand ‘political’ role beyond Amethi, Rae Bareli to be Priyanka’s own: Cong

New Delhi, May 16 (UNI) Reacting to speculation of Congress planning to make party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra the face of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, the Congress today said any decision to expand her ‘political role’ beyond Amethi and Rae Bareli would be Priyanka’s own decision.
AICC spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed, asked to comment on reports on strategist Prashant Kishor’s statement that Priyanka would be the face of the party in the UP assembly polls, scheduled in 2017, told reporters, "AICC incharge for UP Madhusudan Mistry has already given a clarification on this issue. There is no discussion in this regard in the Congress. Nor has there been any discussion on the CM candidate with Mr Prashant Kishor. Reports in this regard are just a creation of the media.’’
Asked to comment on JD-U leader K C Tyagi saying in Lucknow yesterday that Priyanka could campaign for the anti-BJP alliance in UP, Mr Ahmed said it could be the personal opinion of Mr Tyagi.
