Fire breaks out at Ukai thermal power station
Surat: A major fire broke out at the Ukai Thermal Power Station located on the banks of Tapi river in Songadh taluka of Tapi district on Monday morning. No casualty has been reported yet.
Sources said that the fire broke out in the boiler unit of the power station’s unit number-5 due to some unknown reasons. Around 10 fire tenders from Vyara fire department rushed to the spot to douse the fire.
Officials present on the spot said that the fire was brought under control after few hours.
Reportedly, the fire broke out when the engineers were closing the boiler unit.
MR Vasava, mamlatdar of Songadh taluka said, “The fire has been brought under control. A major loss is expected due to the fire.
