Fire in scrap godown at Pandesara GIDC

Surat: A pile of waste cloth and plastic scrap kept in an open godown in Pandesara GIDC was destroyed in a fire on Sunday afternoon. There were no casualties in the incident. Fire brigade used three fire fighters, three tankers and two water bourses to douse the fire that broke around 3.20 pm. It took them 90 minutes to extinguish the fire.
"There is no electricity connection in this godown.The fire may have been caused after sunrays fell on some broken glass pieces in the godown. The fire soon engulfed polyester scrap material lying there," fire officer Raju Gaikwad said.
