More than 20 per cent of the polling stations in each of the four suburban Assembly segments — Sholinganallur, Alandur, Pallavaram and Tambaram — out of the 11 Assembly constituencies in Kancheepuram district, have been identified as sensitive polling stations.
While 22.87 percent of the 570 polling stations to be set up in Sholinganallur segment have been mapped as vulnerable, 26.37 percent of 417 in Tambaram, 26.77 percent of 437 in Pallavaram and 28.97 percent of 390 in Alandur constituency have been identified as vulnerable polling stations. In all, 595 out of 4, 008 polling stations have been mapped as vulnerable, according to official sources.
Out of these 595 vulnerable polling stations, 456 come under Sholinganallur (116), Alandur (113), Pallavaram (117) and Tambaram (110) segments.
Additional security
Sources said additional security arrangements have been chalked out for the smooth conduct of elections.
Interestingly, in four other constituencies, the authorities have scaled down the number of vulnerable polling stations. They are — Chengalpattu from 56 to 16, Madurantakam (reserved) from 21 to 13, Cheyyur (reserved) from 16 to 13 and Tiruporur from 15 to 12 polling stations.
Meanwhile, in the Assembly segments of Kancheepuram, Sriperumpudur (reserved) and Uthiramerur, the number of vulnerable stations has been increased from 30 to 42, from 4 to 31 and from zero to 12, respectively.
20% of the polling stations in each of the constituencies have been declared vulnerable
