The Excise Department has intensified its action against the sale and consumption of liquor in the context of Monday’s Assembly election.

In addition to the Excise officials on duty, 96 more officials from neighbouring districts will be on duty in the district during the dry days.

Ten additional excise outposts and a 24-hour mobile petrol unit would function for the election, said a release issued here on Sunday.

Additional staff will monitor the border check-posts at Kumily, Cumbom Mettu, and Bodimettu.

The phone number of the Excise control room is 04862 222493.
