Thane: Aarti Prajapati, an 8-year-old girl from Kishan Nagar, was engrossed in inscribing ‘Happy Streets’ in bold letters on the road with colourful chalks while looking for appreciation from onlookers. As she finished the task she realized that it had turned out to be an attractive creation and was appreciated by people. She stood out among other participants at the street painting-drawing arena.

“Since the summer vacation is on, I visited Happy Streets with my neighbours. I found the venue lively and entertaining. I will continue to drop by here to participate in different events,” said Prajapati.
Similarly, Prathmesh More from Dharamveer Nagar, who has appeared for class X exams, was a first timer at Happy Streets. He along with friends played football and badminton.
Vijay Suraksha Art Zone had arranged family day celebrations for families to participate in various fun games. The winners took home attractive prizes. “It was great to be a part of Happy Streets,” said Nandini Suvarna, a team member from Manorma Nagar.
Heartfulness, an outfit promoting meditation, had its inaugural session of relaxation and meditation. “The techniques taught were to recharge and rediscover yourselves,” said Anuj Gupta, a participant.
Participants in large numbers explored the free diabetes health check-up session arranged by Lifespan.
Happy Streets is an initiative of Thane traffic police, TMC, Vijay Group and Suraksha Realty and supported by TOI. Those who did not have cycles to pedal their way, TOI had the answer with its rent-free cycles.
