Alert sounded in Gurdaspur after 3 unidentified men hijack a car

Three unidentified men hijacked a taxi in Ojla bypass area of Gurdaspur on Saturday night, leaving the driver seriously injured, SSP Gurdaspur Jagdeep Singh Hundal said.

"The incident took place at 10:30 PM when the attackers who came in a Tata Sumo vehicle attacked the driver Pradip Saini with hockey sticks at Ojla bypass area and snatched his white Swift car bearing No PB01A7651. The investigations are on," Jagdeep Singh Hundal said.

According to the injured driver, who hails from Khanpur area of Pathankot, he was carrying passengers including women when his vehicle was attacked. The snatchers spoke Punjabi language and abandoned their vehicle after one kilometre from the crime scene.

The vehicle PB-06-B-1925 which was used to snatch the car carried On Duty and On Duty Telecom stickers on the front and back windshields.

The police refused to comment on the motive of the vehicle snatching. However, it is taking the incident seriously, as intelligence agencies have already alerted about a possible infiltration bid by Pakistan based terror groups.
