Councillor's brother, two others stabbed to death in Surat

Surat: Bharat Togadia, brother of Praful, leader of opposition in Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) and Congress councillor, was stabbed to death by some unidentified attackers on Saturday night in Varachha area of city. Three other persons present in the office were also attacked of whom two have died while one person is admitted in hospital in critical condition.
Togadia was at an office in Modi Mohalla of AK Road with his friends Balu Hirani, Ashok Dungar Patel and Mahesh Radadia when some unidentified persons attacked them. The attackers brutally stabbed the deceased several times. Togadia and Hirani died on the spot while Ashok and Mahesh were shifted to hospital.
Ashok died during treatment at Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research (SMIMER) while Mahesh is admitted in a private hospital.
The deceased had gathered at the finance office of Hirani. Sources close to the deceased informed that Hirani and Togadia were running the finance business in partnership while the attackers had some financial dispute with them in recent past. After getting confirmation about their presence at the office, the attackers targeted them at around 9.15pm on Saturday.
