Dahod gears up for PMUY launch, three CMs to attend event

The Dahod district administration is gearing up for mega event, the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana (PMUY), providing free LPG gas connections to women from BPL families in three states of western India on Sunday. The heat wave has raised concern, however, special arrangements have been made to ensure that those attending the event do not fall prey to it.

Vadodara: The Dahod district administration is gearing up for mega event, the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana (PMUY), providing free LPG gas connections to women from BPL families in three states of western India on Sunday. The heat wave has raised concern, however, special arrangements have been made to ensure that those attending the event do not fall prey to it.

The district administration has arranged for drinking water, buttermilk and even sprinklers at the venue. Doctors will also remain present to handle any cases of heatstroke or dehydration at the venue.
Dahod district collector M A Gandhi said that over 75,000 persons were expected to attend the event. These would include persons from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh (MP) besides Gujarat. The chief ministers of all these states will remain present at the event besides national BJP president Amit Shah.
Gandhi said that to kick of the distribution of gas connection in the three states, 15 beneficiaries have been identified. The beneficiaries include five each from Gujarat, Rajasthan and MP, Gandhi said.
Congress, at the other end, is gearing up to hold protests on the day. "We have decided to raise the issue like shortage of fodder, water and jobs in the Dahod district. We had sought an appointment to meet the chief minister to raise these, but were not granted one. Now we will try to make representations on our own," said Dahod district president Kirit Patel adding that surprise agitation programmes may also be held on the day.
