Woman, kid crushed to death by speeding bus

Gurgaon: A woman and her two-and-a-half-years old son were crushed to death by a speeding bus on Sohna road on Saturday. The accident happened when the bike they were travelling on was hit from behind, police said. Their neighbour, who was riding the bike, was also injured.
According to police, the deceased have been identified as Sushma and her son Jatin, residents of Pipli village in Sonipat and the man, who was driving riding the bike, as Manoj Kumar.
Manoj told police that he was taking the mother and her kid to hospital. When they reached the main road, an overloaded bus hit them from behind. While Manoj fell a few metres away, Sushma and Jatin were crushed under the rear wheel of the bus. Though passengers got down from the bus and tried to rush them to hospital, they were already dead.
"I was traumatised to see Sushma and her son die in front of my eyesThe collision was so intense that I fell a few metres away from my bike. When I stood up, I saw their bodies lying there," Manoj said adding, he escaped as he was wearing a helmet.
Sushma is survived by her husband Jai Prakash and two children.
An FIR has been lodged against the bus driver, who fled from the spot.
"We have lodged an FIR against the unidentified driver under sections 279 (negligence of driving), 304A (death by negligence) of IPC," said ASI Prahlad Singh, investigating officer.
