Leaders, candidates and activists thronged key junctions in more than a dozen spots in the district on Saturday evening making a grand finale for one of the longest campaigns in recent electoral history of the State.

Road shows, flash mobs and bike rallies figured in the celebrations.

The celebrations at Thirunakkara in the heart of the town commenced early with the UDF leaders arriving to the accompaniment of bands and drummers.

Candidate Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan flanked by KPCC president V. M. Sudheerean led the procession. This was followed by the BJP contingent led by candidate M. S. Karunakaran.

Even as the saffron brigade left, came in the red troop led by their candidate Regi Zacharia.

The celebrations were peaceful. However, the finale in Kanjirappally and Erattupetta led to scuffles, but the police said they have not registered any case.

The celebrations were held at West Nada at Vaikom and Central junction and Neendoor in by UDF and LDF respectively at Ettumanur segment.

In Pala, while the LDF held their celebrations at Stadium junction, the UDF held theirs at Kurisupalli junction. The NDA had their finale organised at the General Hospital Junction.

The three coalitions held their celebrations at the Central Junction at Kaduthruthy. The grand finale at Puthuppally segment was held at three different spots at Pampady town. The campaign of the three coalitions culminated at Central Junction and Perunna Bus Stand in Changanassery.
