Former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said on Saturday that it was in the purview of a court to charge or acquit an accused in a case and not the right of an investigative agency like NIA. Khurshid, who was addressing mediapersons after the formal launch of DPS Wonder World Pre-School in Koregaon Park, said that since the BJP government assumed power in Delhi, it has been taking decisions in favour of ‘saffron terrorists’ by dropping charges on them.

“The constitutional system is being gradually pushed on a shaky wicket. There’s a need to restore the ideals of democracy through legal activism and public discourse, and by creating a system of greater checks and balances for the greater good of democracy. The decision to drop the six accused from the list by NIA can be overturned by the court if challenged there,” said Khurshid, who attended the event along with his wife Louise Khurshid.
