A college student, studying in second semester of BA, has lodged a complaint with the Nalagarh police that a youth, hailing from Baruna village, attempted to rape her last evening.

The police registered a case under Section 376(2), 506 of the IPC and the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences and arrested the accused.

According to the girl’s complaint, she went to her college to take her second semester BA examination around 8:45 am yesterday when a youth told her that her brother was in his custody and if she did not go with him he would kill her brother.

Alarmed at this news, she accompanied this youth who was joined by another youth on a bike outside the college.

The duo took her to an isolated forest area near Kripalpur after which the motorcycle rider returned with the bike. She said the other youth, who was also carrying a pistol, directed her to either listen to him or face the worst consequences.

He tried to rape her but he received a call where the caller directed him to come back to Nalagarh immediately.

The youth then returned and left the girl at Kripalpur where she met her brother and she narrated the tale to him.

They informed the police and a case was registered against the youth who was later arrested by the police.

Superintendent of Police Basher Singh confirmed that a case under relevant sections had been registered in this matter and the case was being investigated into.

The Superintendent of Police said the medical examination of the girl had also been conducted.
