Communal disturbance in coastal Karnataka; fresh incidents of stabbing

After a gap of 10 days, the coastal Karnataka region witnessed communal disturbances with fresh incidents of stabbing in Ullal near Mangaluru city.

Shamsuddin (27) was stabbed by a group of people near the Sayyid Madani Dargah on Friday after the prayers. It is said that a dispute within members of the Sunnis over organizing a religious event has escalated this week. Shamsuddin blamed his friends for the attack, but they denied the same.

In an unconnected incident, another unidentified man was stabbed by miscreants in Ullal leading to tension in the town. The police have registered multiple cases and a probe is on.
