Kanpur: In view of prevailing heat condition in the city, the district administration of Kanpur Nagar has decided to provide drinking water facility to the spectators of the IPL matches through water tankers to be parked inside the stadium. The IPL matches will be held at Green Park stadium on May 19 and May 21.
District magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma while presiding over a review meeting held here on Friday directed the Jal Kal department to arrange water tankers at the stadium for the cricket buff.
He asked the officials to keep all tube wells near the Green Park stadium in active mode so that empty tankers could be filled immediately when needed.
The DM has specifically asked the Jal Kal officials to check all sewer lines and get cleaned the choked ones by jetting machines. He also instructed the officials to check that all open manholes were covered inside the stadium and in its outer periphery so that no untoward incident could take place.
General manager of Jal Kal department RPS Saluja stated in the meeting that as many as eight water tankers will be arranged during the IPL matchs.
Meanwhile, the decoration work in Green Park is in full swing. A huge electronic screen has been installed at one end of the stadium. The screen, besides displaying the score, will also show action replays.
The district administration has made foolproof security arrangement to conduct the matches peacefully. SSP Shalabh Kumar said that the state government has allotted nine companies of PAC, and he has requested for 6-7 companies of paramilitary force too. Apart from local police, QRT platoons would also be part of the security cover in Green Park, he informed and added that local police would provide security to DJ and cheer girls and a police cordon would protect them.
He said the area outside Green Park stadium has been divided in three sectors, and three separate teams would check the spectators. Ticket checking would be done by a team of 300 to 350 persons, all belonging to the franchisee. Police force would be provided to them to help them in emergency, the SSP added.
