Lucknow-Sitapur guage conversion from tomorrow; state to deploy 109 additional buses

Lucknow, May 14 (UNI) Railways today start gauge conversion on the 130-year-old British period metre gauge rail track from Lucknow to Mailaini via Sitapur as the last couple of passenger trains chug off from Aishbagh station.
After a delay of around three years, the North-Eastern railways commenced the first phase of the gauge conversion between Aishbagh (Lucknow) to Sitapur, about 90 kilometres, which will be completed by December, North Eastern Railway officials said.
Plying of around 26 pairs of trains would be suspended due to the conversion and 130-year-old British era trains including Nainital Express, Century Express, Rohilkhand Express are now a history.
