ISLAMABAD: In what appears to be a constant life threat to the citizens of the capital, 30 accidents occurred in 30 days on a bridge at Nazimuddin Road and 7th Avenue. Traffic Police and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) have become silent spectators of the situation. On Thursday two vehicles collided at 7th Avenue Bridge. The cause of the accident is that traffic moving towards Luqman Hakeem Road from Nazimuddin Road and towards PIMS from Jinnah Avenue, from 7th Avenue to Jinnah Avenue, Luqman Hakeem Road and Nazimuddin Road, passes from the this point. Following the construction of Metro Station this is the only point for taking a U-turn for Jinnah Avenue and traffic from Luqman Hakeem road to Nizaumuddin passes through from there too. Signals are out of order at this point and violation of one-way causes traffic accidents every day. Traffic police officers are of the opinion that out of order signals are not the reason of accidents rather negligence of people is the real cause. On the other side, officials of CDA are not interested to take responsibility of the accidents. The employees of CDA reached the spots after the accidents to collect money for damaging road polls and fences. At least 30 accidents occurred last month and many people got fractures and injuries apart from financial loss worth thousands of rupees. When Online contacted Kohsar Police station, officer at duty said traffic police or CDA are not ready to accept responsibility of everyday accidents at the same place. The basic reason of the accidents is lack of active traffic policy.
