Power supply hit in parts of Old City
Hyderabad: At a time when six new power sub-stations have been sanctioned for Old City, several areas were left in the dark on Friday on account of a power cut which lasted up to seven hours.
The power cut was reported in neighbourhoods such as Noor Khan Bazaar, parts of Dabeerpura and Kaali Khabar. "There was no power in my house from 2 am till 10 am on Friday.
Our calls to the electricity department went answered," Mohammed Waseem, a resident of Noor Khan Bazaar said. Sources from the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company (TSSPDCL) said the power outage was on account of overloading of feeders. "The feeder at Noor Khan Bazaar got overloaded. After this, we transferred the load to Komatwadi. This too got overloaded. We then worked round the clock to restore power," said TSSPDCL superintending engineer T Anand.
Old City is all set to get six new sub-stations of 33/11 KV capacity. These are to be installed in Saidabad, Chhatrinaka, Mosarambagh, Bahadurpura, Chatrinaka, Teegalguda in Dilsukhnagar and Madannapet. TSSPDCL officials said that the cost of construction is about Rs 118 crore.
