Reyaansh Chaddha: I hated my father all my life but now I know I was wrong

A recent development changed Reyaansh Bhatia’s (earlier known as Nikkhil Chaddha) life forever. The actor, who has been brought up by his mother, grew up loathing his father. He believed that his father abandoned him and his mother when he was just six-months-old. He had even changed his surname from Chaddha to his mother’s maiden name, Bhatia. However, he’s now back to using his original surname.Reyaansh always felt the urge to trace his father and confront him for abandoning him. However he was shocked to learn that his father passed away eight years ago.
He says, “We had no contact with him. However, when I tried to trace him back to the city where he was posted, I was told by his batchmate that he passed away. I also found out that he tried to locate us several times as he was yearning to have us back, but he didn’t know of our whereabouts as we had severed our ties with him. I also learnt that my parents’ separation was a result of irrevocable differences from both ends.” After unearthing these facts about his father, he organised a puja for him. “I hated my father throughout my life for abandoning my mother and me, but now I know I was wrong. I don’t grudge him anymore and I feel light from within,” he says. The actor says that he has been experiencing his world changing for the better. He has been roped in to play one of the two male leads in 'Kahani Hamari'. His character is loosely inspired by Varun Dhawan’s character in 'Student Of The Year'. He says, “The series is set in a college and I will play a rich, snooty bully.”
He has also lost weight for a more lean and toned body for the part.
