Greater Noida: The main accused in the murder of UP Police sub-inspector Akhtar Khan in Dadri last month surrendered in the Karkardooma court in Delhi on Thursday. Javed, who was on the run for the past 17 days, is believed to have shot Khan during a police raid in Dadri's Nai Basti on April 25.
On a tip-off that a dreaded criminal, Javed, was staying in a house owned by Furkan in Nai Basti, Akhtar with his team from Dadri police station had gone to raid the house.
Akhtar, who went inside the house first, was shot on the neck after criminals opened fire, killing him immediately. The raiding party then took cover and fired retaliatory shots but the suspects fled.
Khan was rushed to the Dadri government hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
A case was later registered against the criminals and several teams, including cops from the STF, were formed to nab them. Gulfam alias Tota, Auranzeb, Nanhe Khan, Kasim, Furqan, his wife Anmol were arrested soon after. Raids at the possible hideouts of Javed were on. Dadri residents had also held a candlelight march in solidarity with the sub-inspector's family.
