Top agriculture official held taking bribe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday arrested an assistant director of agriculture department posted in Rajsamand district and manager of grain warehouses there after they were caught taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 cash and a cheque of Rs 2.51 lakh.

Jaipur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday arrested an assistant director of agriculture department posted in Rajsamand district and manager of grain warehouses there after they were caught taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 cash and a cheque of Rs 2.51 lakh. They had already taken Rs 85,000 from the ACB's complainant who used to supply tanks made of iron to store grain to the agriculture department.
The duo were demanding a bribe of Rs 350 on each tank worth nearly Rs 2000.
The trap was laid by Jaipur ACB's Jaipur rural team. The ACB's complainant Surendra Krishi supply iron-made tanks to the agriculture department. To continue his contract for supply of tanks and release his payment for the tanks already supplied, the assistant director Rajendra Bharati was demanding the bribe.
Rajendra Bharati who is posted in Rajasmand's Devgarh and manger Laxman Kumar were arrested under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act after they were caught taking the bribe. The total amount of bribe was Rs 4 lakh, IG, ACB Dinesh MN said.
