Pune: Electronic Maintainance System to be launched at over 170 locations, says Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha

“I understand that the project is behind time, almost by two years due to some hitches. Any project of this gigantic scale will have problems and we have to sort them out. But we are sure that our technology partner Wipro and the Air Force team working on the project, will tireless work shoulder to shoulder to keep our promise of implementing this project for 12 different verticals, at all the 170 locations across the country. The deadline we have put for us is December 2017. By keeping this promise, we will be able to show the world and also demonstrate to our country that we mean business and we can keep such promises of this magnitude,” Raha said in his speech.

The Air Chief Marshal added, “The Indian Air Force will continue to be in the forefront of the modernisation, because we are a technology-intensive force.”

Remembering his two past tenures at the Pune Air Force base, the CAS said he was glad that Pune was chosen as a location for pilot implementation, because it being one of the important fighter airbases of the country.

Speaking to reporters after the inauguration ceremony, he said completing the project by 2017 will be a challenge but the IAF is determined to keep the deadline.

According to the IAF, post implementation of the project, maintenance work environment is expected to become more efficient and operational availability of all fleet and systems can be monitored in real-time at various hierarchical levels.

Software support tools of the system would help to act proactively, reduce down times, achieve increased operational preparedness and enhance maintenance safety aspects.

Speaking at the inauguration, Air Officer Commanding of the 2-Wing, which is located at Pune Air Force base, Air Commodore A K Bharti said the task given to Pune airbase for implement the pilot phase of the project was not just mammoth but also challenging. He congratulated the team for making the project robust and user-friendly.

Air Officer Commanding in Chief South Western Air Command, Air Marshal R K Dhir, Air Officer-in Charge Maintenance Air Marshal P P Khandekar, CEO of Wipro T K Kurien and other senior officials from IAF and Wipro were present on the occasion.
