Vikas Ace Coaching will conduct a 60-day intensive training programme for students appearing for NEET 2016. Kaimal Kumar will teach physics, Vipin Kumar and Taruna Vipin Kumar chemistry and Rajesh K will train students in biology. Classes will be conducted in classrooms at Vikas PU College, Mangaluru. Batch size is of 60 students and this year, only one batch will be conducted.
Classes commence from May, 20. Daily three sessions will be held from 9am-11am, 11.30am-1.30pm and 2.30pm-4.30pm followed by unit test from 5pm-7pm.
New principal: Sathish Kumar Shetty P is the new principal of Besant Women's College. Earleir he served as associate professor at the department of history, Besant Evening College. Former principal Sulochana Narayan handed over charge to Sathish Kumar in the presence of college correspondent Devananda Pai.
Organization for differently-abled: Sashama, an organisation for differently-abled will inaugurate its Dakshina Kannada unit and also observe Soordasa Jayanthi on Saturday, at Chetana Bala Vikas Kendra, V T Road, Mangaluru. Swachh Bharat campaign: Moolathva Foundation Charitable Trust has selected Subhashini Mistry from West Bengal for 'Moolathva Vishwa Award' for her services in the health field. The award will be conferred at Town Hall on May 15. On the occasion, the Foundation will launch a two-year Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in association with Mangalore University and district NSS Unit. Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, J R Lobo, Mangaluru City South MLA, K Byrappa, vice-chancellor, Mangalore University, will be present.
Beary fellowship: Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy will organise 'Beary Fellowship and Beary Puraskar' on May 15, at Samaj Mandira, Moodbidri. Selected students under Mangalore University will receive fellowship of Rs 40,000 to publish a 100-page book on Beary language, tradition and art. On the occasion various selected persons from the region will be felicitated.
Karate champs: Mangalore Red Camels School students won 10 gold and 10 silver medals at the international karate championship held at Peridaniya University, Kandy in Sri Lanka on May 8. In girls category: Ayesha Fathima bagged two gold medals, Nabeela Suha (two gold medals), Jaisha Fathima (one gold and one silver medal), Zainab (one gold and one silver medal), Fathima Niza (one gold and one silver medal) and Rasheeda one gold and one silver medal. In boys category, Rishaad bagged one gold one silver medal, Tawheed (one gold and one silver medal), Anas and Owais has bagged two silver medals respectively.
Camp on scientific thinking: Samudaya Mangaluru will organise a two-day camp on scientific thinking and empowerment of convenors from Saturday at Karnataka Bank Employees' Association hall. Interested people may participate. Valedictory ceremony will be held on May 15 and Dr B Shrinivas Kakkilaya, social thinker will be the chief guest.
