Delayed: Madesha's Mysuru City Corporation membership disqualification
Mysuru: 'Avva' Madesha, a second-time elected member from ward 32 of Mysuru City Corporation, who has been convicted in a double-murder case for life imprisonment, is facing disqualification of his membership for being convicted in a murder case.
The process, however, has delayed due to alleged apathy on the part of MCC authorities.
Regional commissioner A M Kunjappa told TOI that MCC had recommended the disqualification of Madesha's membership improperly.
They had sent a letter with the court judgment copy which runs into hundreds of pages, but without properly recommending his disqualification. "I have sent it back to them, asking to send it in order - and clearly in writing - recommending his removal from the council."
The RC has also sought a legal opinion in this regard.
Kunjappa said that he will have a month's time to take action after MCC submits its proposal in this regard. "I have to send a notice to the person concerned and take legal opinion before disqualifying Madesha," he added.
