Man kills neighbour, injures two others in tribal hamlet

May 13, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - A. KONDUR (KRISHNA DT.):

An agriculture labourer, Banavath Chandru Naik, allegedly killed his neighbour, Bhukya Jaanu (37) and injured two others, suspecting that the deceased had an extramarital affair with his wife.

The injured, Bhukya Jyothi and his son, B. Balaji, a tenth standard student, suffered critical injuries and were rushed to Government General Hospital, Vijayawada, for treatment.

According to the Mylavaram police, the accused Chandru Naik was allegedly harassing his wife suspecting her fidelity since a few months. Unable to bear the harassment, Naik’s wife held a panchayat in A. Kondur Thanda a few days ago.

After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the community elders dismissed the allegations made by Chandru Naik against his wife and directed to take his wife and not to harass her.

However, the latter allegedly continued to harass his wife and she left to her parent’s house a few days ago.

Alleging that Bhukya Jaanu was responsible for splitting his family, Chandru Naik attacked Jaanu with a knife in the early hours on Thursday, killing him on the spot.

Jaanu’s wife, Jyothi and son, Balaji, who came to his rescue suffered critical injuries.

Case registered

A case under Section 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC has been registered against the accused and a hunt is on to arrest him, the police said.
