A couple, their two minor children, and an auto driver were killed when an auto rammed into a stationary truck in Kurubarahalli in Rajajinagar on Thursday.

The victims were construction labourers. They had just returned from Kalaburagi and were heading to their home in Ravi Nagar.

The deceased family members have been identified as Shivappa Pujari (45), Mahadevi Pujari (40), Lakshmana (9) and Ranjitha (4). Their other children — Muniappa (18) and Vijaylakshmi (12) — sustained injuries.

The auto driver — Shankrappa (48) — died on the spot.

The identity of a 17-year-old boy, who too was injured in the accident, is yet to be ascertained.

Police said the driver lost control when the auto entered 60 Feet Road in Rajajinagar. He rammed into a brick-laden truck parked on the roadside. The injured persons were rushed to NIMHANS.

A senior police officer said, “The road has a steep incline and the auto was going downhill. The brick-laden lorry was parked on the roadside. The auto driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the truck.”

A case has been registered at Rajajinagar traffic police station.
