Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Ericsson Nikola Tesla d.d. signed a contract for Delivery of Health Information Systems Informatization and Inter-Operability Platform. The Contract is worth HRK 150 million.

An advanced software solution and services related to the national healthcare system informatization will be delivered to the Republic of Kazakhstan, world's ninth largest country with a population of 17 million. The implementation, which includes analysis, design, adjustment to local requirements and installation will last approximately a year, while support services will continue for three years.

This contract will enable the Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the related healthcare institutions to introduce international standards and to support key healthcare segment reforms. It is important to emphasize that this platform has the possibility to integrate the existing systems and enable the integration of future systems on the basis of international standards. Within the contract, National Electronic Health Record System and Business Intelligence System will be designed.

The introduction of networked healthcare information system on a national level will result in improved efficiency and quality in managing healthcare system and access to reliable and timely healthcare information. A unified healthcare information system will enable various new services and information regarding healthcare segment to citizens via Patient's Portal, as well as a safer healthcare system of higher quality, and will provide assistance to doctors in clinical decision making.

Alexey Tsoy, Vice-Minister of Healthcare and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, commented on the event: 'The realization of the informatization and interoperability platform is an important step within the strategy of eHealth development of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Electronic Health Record, which will be implemented on the platform base, will enable the provision of information support to the process of improving primary health care, providing the continuity of healthcare provision, and enhancing the quality of medical information, used for making clinical and healthcare policy decisions. On the basis of Electronic Health Record, a Patient's Portal will be created, which is an information tool for the patients inclusion into the process of taking care of their health, the realization of disease management program, and forming a healthy way of living.'
