Threatening to launch agitation against the government’s proposed new industrial policy, Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) on Thursday questioned that why an outsider would come and invest in the state.Minutes before addressing a news conference, the alliance, an amalgam of 14 associations elected Muhammad Yousuf Chapri as its new chairman. While talking to media, the alliance said threatened to launch agitation against the government’s proposed new industrial policy and termed it as a ploy to change the special status of the state. Chapri told KNS that the government has so far failed to redress the genuine grievances of people. “We have been appealing the government to redress the genuine demands of the traders but unfortunately, they so far failed to do so,” he said.

He said that with such kind of issues, it seems that the government is trying to dilute the special status of the people. “We won’t allow anyone to dilute the special status of the state. We are against the moves to provide land to the ex-servicemen and new industrial policy,” he said.Chapri said that the alliance will work under one banner and will fight against the anti-Kashmir policy. “We will launch agitation if the government won’t rollback the policy,” he said.Meanwhile, the alliance also warned the state government over the shifting of Batamaloo Bus stand to Parimpora.

The alliance member during the presser said that the government under a plan, the significance and importance of historic Lal-Chowk is being eroded. The alliance said that they won’t allow shifting of Batamaloo Bus Stand. “If the Bus stand will be shifted to Parimpora, at least 5000 people will be affected. The livelihood of these families will be affected,” he said, adding that the alliance won’t allow anyone to affect the lives of people.Pertinently, , the alliance, amalgam of 14 association including transporters, Shikarawalas, hoteliers, mutton dealers, Wester Bus Stand Kashmir, Mini Bus Federation Kashmir and others vowed to fight against the anti-Kashmir policies of the government.
