Weymouth flat stabbing: Nicholas Price jailed for life

A man who stabbed a man to death and seriously injured another he hit in the face with a hammer and knife has been jailed for life.

Nicholas Price, 43, was convicted on Monday following a trial at Winchester Crown Court.

The body of Abdal Rahman Al-Rabia, 23, was found on 8 November. A post-mortem examination found he died from a single stab wound to the chest.

Price was ordered to spend a minimum of 20 years in jail.

He was also given a 12 year term for the attempted murder of the 20-year-old.

The sentences will run concurrently.

A Dorset Police spokesman said Mr Al-Rabia, who lived in London and was originally from Jordan, had travelled to Dorset to deal crack cocaine and heroin and was using Price's property as a base.

Price, of Bath Street, Weymouth, offered to let the two men and a 16-year-old boy stay at the flat after they missed a train back to London.

Det Insp Mark Samuel said: "This was a violent attack resulting in a tragic and avoidable death and our thoughts today are with Abdal's family.

"I hope the sentence handed out today brings some small comfort to them at this distressing time."

He praised members of public who helped administer first aid at the scene "despite the traumatic scenes they were faced with".
