Farmers in central Gujarat attempt Kashmiri Gulab farming (Video)

Karjan, Vadodara

Farming our country rose is not new for Karjan taluka of central Gujarat. But some farmers in Deroli and other villages have now attempted farming of Kashmiri rose and achieved success too. Government cover of subsidy is available to farming of Kashmiri Gulab same way as it is available for desi Gulab.

According to local farmer Mukeshbhai Machhi, Kashmiri Gulab plant has no thorn on the part where roses are present. This reduce the possibility of injury on hand due to thorn while plucking roses.

In Kasampura village, Kashmiri Gulab farming takes place through drip irrigation.

Mukeshbhai says he was traditionally into farming of desi Gulab, but for experiment purpose he this time tried Kashmir Gulab farming in one bigha area.

He said Kashmiri roses attract double income due to their dark color and lower weight. While desi Gulab would lose freshness in six to seven hours, Kashmiri Gulab will remain fresh for two to three days. During specific festivals and wedding season, buyers from Vadodara pre-booked their order for Kashmiri Gulab.
