American Ballet Theatre neglected to invite Irina Dvorovenko and her husband/dance partner Maxim Beloserkovsky to the season opening gala at Lincoln Center on Monday.
The Russians spent over 25 years combined as ABT principal dancers before retiring — he in 2012, she in 2013. (Dvorovenko went on to co-star in the Golden Globes-nominated Starz series “Flesh and Bone.”)
“We didn’t expect to attend the dinner. It’s a big fundraiser for the company. It’s all about money. I totally understand,” Beloserkovsky told me. “But it would have been nice to have been invited to the performance.”
“This was my home for 17 years. These are my colleagues,” Beloserkovsky said. “I don’t know why we were overlooked. It’s a little upsetting. It’s not nice.”
