'Appointing Chairperson for AFT mills an achievement'

Speaking while undertaking electioneering at Mudaliarpet constituency in support of the DMK candidate Suresh, Mr Narayanasamy said the mill was closed many years ago and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, who visited Puducherry promised to re-open the mills and accordingly the mill was re-opened. However, when the N R Congress government assumed office the mill was closed again and it remained closed for the last four years. Even though, the mill remained closed during the Congress government, workers were getting their wages.
The N R Congress in its election manifesto in 2011 had promised the re-opening of the mill, providing employment to 2000 workers. Mr Narayansamy said the Chairperson was drawing a salary of Rs one lakh a month and everyone believed that he will take initiatives to open the mill. But he had indulged in the sale of machinery as scrap, he charged.
