Nadkarni appointed as ASG in apex court

Panaji: Advocate general (AG) Atmaram Nadkarni, has been appointed additional solicitor general (ASG) of India in Supreme Court.
"The appointments committee of the cabinet has approved the appointment of Atmaram Nadkarni, senior advocate, Bombay high court as additional solicitor general of India in the Supreme Court for three years with effect from the date of assumption of charge," an official statement read.

Speaking to TOI, Nadkarni said he will eventually resign as AG, a post he has been holding since 2012.
Nadkarni graduated in law in 1986 and completed his Masters in Mumbai in 1991. He hails from a family of lawyers. His father-in-law, Vijay Nadkarni, was the state's first advocate general.
Ramakant Khalap, during his tenure as Union law minister, had appointed senior counsel Manohar M S Usgaonkar, as ASG. tnn
