Nashik: The summer examination of the Yashwatrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) is scheduled to start from May 11 at 750 centres across the state.
Over 6.10 lakh students will appear for this examination in different streams and subjects. The university has decided to conduct the entire examination online for the first time this year. If the experiment of online examination is successful, YCMOU will become the first university in India to conduct exams of 6 lakh-plus students online.
"The summer examinations of all streams and subjects are scheduled between May 11 and May 27.
This year, we will send the question papers online to all 750 centres instead of mailing them by post," said Pandit Gavli, in-charge registrar of the university.
He added that the number of answersheets will be exactly equal to the number of students present for the examination. The answer paper will have barcoded information of the student which will make the process of data entry, re-totalling and valuation a fast. Eventually, it will save time and efforts, ensuring early results.
According to Gavli, the number of students appearing for the examination of B.A., B.Com (Marathi, English, Urdu and Hindi medium), B.A. (Consumer Service) are highest this year. Students for BEd, MEd, and journalism diploma and degree courses are also more as compared to last year. Examinations of about 150 courses would be held between May 11 and 27.
