Crime branch clicked photos of me, says Afridi

Blasts Accused Fears They Will Be Used To Tutor Witnesses
Crime branch clicked photos of me, says Afridi
Ahmedabad: An accused in the 2008 serial blasts case who was arrested recently, Alamzeb Afridi, filed a complaint at the metropolitan court on Tuesday accusing crime branch officials of clicking his photographs and recording videos in police custody.
Afridi's advocate, Dilshad Pathan, filed his complaint and expressed apprehension that the probe agency obtained the photographs and videos to coach their "got-up witnesses" for identification - during the Test Identification parade and later during deposition.

In his application Afridi has alleged that he was "mentally tortured" during his police custody, as crime branch officials showed him to some unknown persons. He complained he was photographed from different angles so that identifying him in future would be easy for police witnesses, who have never seen him before.
The application was tendered when investigators brought him to court after completion of his police remand in connection with the FIR lodged with Shahibaug police station. The investigators obtained his custody again in connection with an FIR registered at Kapodara police station in Surat, where bombs were planted but never went off. He has been remanded in connection with two FIRs till date. There are more than 75 persons arrested in this case before Afridi, who was nabbed from Karnataka last month. He was wanted after 20 bombs exploded in the city killing 56 persons on July 26, 2008 and several bombs were found unexploded in Surat the next day.
