Kanpur: Seven people, including five policemen, have been booked by the Kamalganj police in Farrukhabad district on Tuesday in connection with the death of Seema Jatav alias 'Meera', who allegedly had cases against her in connection with a drug racket.
The five policemen, including station house officer (SHO) of Kamalganj Saligram Verma and sub-inspector Hari Om Sharma, have also been suspended and a probe has been ordered into the case.

Seema, who had allegedly tried to flee from police custody on April 30 and in the process sustained serious wounds, died at LLR hospital in Kanpur on Monday.
Hailing from Gursahaiganj locality of Kannauj, Seema was arrested by the Kamalganj police on April 29 for her alleged involvement in a drug racket. During their search, the police had recovered 500 gms of drug powder from her possession. She was booked under the NDPS Act and Gangsters Act by the Kamalganj police and produced before a magistrate who sent her in 14-day judicial remand.
When the cops were shifting Seema to Fatehgarh Central Jail in Farrukabad on April 30, she allegedly jumped from the moving vehicle and suffered critical injuries. The cops shifted her to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital in Farrukhabad. Later, she was referred to a private hospital in Kanpur where she succumbed to her injuries.
"A case under various sections of IPC including 302, 504, 506, 147 and 148 has been filed against Mahendra Singh Katiyar, his son Gurdeep and five policemen including SHO Kamalganj Saligram Verma, sub-inspector Hari Om Sharma, constables Naraini Devi and Ankesk Katiyar and another team member following a complaint by Seema's father Ramdas Jatav on Tuesday," SP Farrukhabad Rajesh Krishna told TOI.

Krishna added that "a probe has been ordered into the case and the SHO has been suspended".
Earlier, Seema had alleged that Gurdeep, son of BSP leader Mahendra Singh Katiyar, had kidnapped her and raped her in 2014. "She was jailed thrice and suffered critical wounds when police arrested her for the fourth time on April 29," alleged her father Ram Das while talking to TOI on phone.
Gurdeep had abducted Seema on December 1, 2014, kept her in captivity and raped before she managed to escape two days later, her father alleged in the complaint. She then went to Kamalganj police, but the cops refused to register her case, he further alleged.
On December 3, 2014, Gurdeep lodged a police complaint against her alleging that she had stolen his two cellphones, a pistol and a wallet. Seema was arrested an hour later and sent to jail. She got bail in March but was arrested again under the Gangsters Act on the basis of a case filed by Gurdeep.
