Perishable Cargo Complex inaugurated at Ahmedabad airport

Gujarat Chief Minister today inaugurated the Center of Perishable Cargo complex in Ahmedabad. The center has 14,600 MT annual capacity. It has various chambers to keep vegetables, fruits and other farm produces afresh for longer time. The Chief Minister expressed faith that with the help of this facility, the farmers of Gujarat will be able to export their produce to America, England, Russia, France, Europe, Singapore, UAE and other countries.

Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation has leased the Perishable Cargo complex to private party for operation and management.

The facility has capacity to store 40 MT food per day. There are total four cold storage, each has capacity of 10 tonne. First cold storage will store vegetables that need zero degree temperature. The second cold storage will have temperature in range of -18 degree C to -22 degree C. It will be used for storage of frozen food. Third cold storage will store fruits and vegetables at 8 degrees C. Fourth cold storage will be used to store transit food at 15 degree C temperature. Thus this perishable cargo center has food storage facility in range of -22 degree to 15 degree temperature. The center has X-ray luggage machine facility also. Security check, custom check, X-ray screening, air flight loading all facilities will be available at single place with this facility in place.

During the inauguration function Nanabhai Jebalia said this complex was operationalized in 2010, but then Congress government led by Dr Manmohan Singh had not allowed it to function. When Narendrabhai became Prime Minister, within first week he ordered file related to this center and approved it. The officials from there called us to inform about this approval. Later due to some court and tender process, the inauguration is taking place today.

Jebalia said the state government has organized Mango festival in Ahmedabad like every year, but next year 2,000 farmers will be trained for best quality of Mangoes and Mango festival will be held across 10 cities including Delhi. Jebalia said liquid bio fertilizer produced by Gujarat Agro Corporation has forced other producers to reduce price. Liquid bio fertilizer gives better results compared to Urea.
